This week arrived a report from the Alliance for Excellent Education, a Washington, D.C.,-based advocacy group, urging elected officials to make high school reform a major issue this campaign year. Titled “Dropouts, diplomas and dollars: U.S. high schools and the nation’s economy,” the report says that cutting the national dropout rate in half would generate an additional $45 billion in federal tax revenues alone.
