The Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) is a state initiative, anchored by reading research and aimed at achieving grade-level reading for all of Alabama’s public school students. It is achieving its goal through intensive teacher development efforts in Grades K-12. Launched in 1998-1999, it is one of the largest, long-term state-level literacy initiatives serving secondary school students.
