Many of the retirees who have driven the economic engine in Florida for the past few decades spent their entire careers working for the same company, in some cases even doing the same job. They looked forward to retirement, when their generous pension would kick in and they could begin to enjoy life...A 2008 study by the Alliance for Excellent Education indicates that 15-year-olds in the United States rank 21st among those in 29 industrialized nations in science literacy and 25th in math literacy.
