Jason Amos

Jason Amos is the most senior member of the Alliance staff in terms of tenure, having been with the organization since late 2001. Upon joining the Alliance, Amos created Straight A's, the Alliance's biweekly newsletter that focuses on education reform and education news in Washington, DC and around the country. In his current capacity, Amos continues to serve as editor of Straight A's, reports on the federal education budget, and oversees the communications and media functions for the Alliance. He is also the author of the Alliance report, Dropouts, Diplomas, and Dollars: U.S. High Schools and the Nation's Economy.

After graduating from the University of Virginia with a BA degree in English and government, Amos worked for three years in the office of U.S. Congressman Nick J. Rahall (WV) as deputy press secretary and systems administrator. During college, Amos worked as a day care teacher for grades four through six. He and his wife, Jennifer, have a daughter, Charlotte.
