Elizabeth Schneider joined the Alliance in May 2005, after serving as a consultant to the Alliance for several months. Prior to joining the Alliance, Schneider served as Executive Director of the Southern Governors’ Association for 10 years where she oversaw day-to-day operations, managing all aspects of the association. She also facilitated the association’s efforts to develop regional capacity to solve problems, create a bipartisan forum for governors to establish and implement policy on federal issues, and serve as a leadership forum for the governors of 16 states and two U.S. territories. Previously, Schneider worked as a senior legislative assistant to Senator Howell Heflin (AL).
Schneider graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Birmingham Southern College with a BA in English and has done graduate work in English at Georgetown University. She is an active member in the George Mason Elementary School PTA in Alexandria, VA.
