    The Advocates for Literacy Coalition, a national coalition of organizations promoting effective federal literacy reform, invites you to view a congressional briefing federal literacy reform. In a global knowledge-based economy, young people must graduate with the advanced reading and writing skills required for college and career success.  Writing and reading skills must be taught in a continuum reflecting the growing complexity of literacy skills and knowledge needed to succeed at each level of education.  The link between literacy and better economic outcomes also proves that we must do more to provide teachers and school leaders with resources needed for effective literacy instruction.

    Gov. Bob Wise and the Alliance for Excellent Education celebrated the wave of innovation sweeping across the nation’s schools. Specifically, this national celebration culminated in the Digital Town Hall, which focused on how great teaching, combined with effective technology, makes a positive impact on improving America’s schools, particularly those that serve high-risk and high-poverty populations.

    The Alliance for Excellent Education presents a webinar that will provide a sneak peak at big announcements that will take place on Digital Learning Day, February 6, 2013. Bob Wise, president of the Alliance and former Governor of West Virginia, spoke about the importance of participating in Digital Learning Day and the forces that will shape the next decade of education. Noelle Ellerson from the American Association of School Administrators highlighted why digital learning is so important for school districts and why every district leader should take heed, and Jim Kohlmoos spoke about the role of state leadership.
