What is happening in my state on common standards?

Forty-nine states and territories participated in the initiative to develop common core state standards. Click here to read the official announcement from June 2009.

Since the final K–12 standards in English language arts and mathematics were released on June 2, 2010, forty six states plus Washington, D.C. have moved to adopt them, representing 87 percent of the U.S. student population and 89 percent of the U.S. population as a whole.
