According to the New York Times, a report by charter school advocates found that teacher and principal attrition is a significant hurdle for the sector, which is young but growing quickly. There currently exists a rate turnover rate for principals in American charter schools.

With the advance of digital technology for students and youth, educators and policy-makers have had to grapple with how to appropriately limit its usage in schools. Wall Street Journal, New York City issued its first guidelines for the use of social media in schools, stopping short of an outright ban but warning teachers to keep a bright line between personal and professional accounts.

While some districts are looking to limit the use of social media in the classroom, the Huffington Post reports that social media, video games, blogs and wikis are playing increasingly important and beneficial roles in classrooms across the country.

Lastly, according to the Washington Post, eleven states have already received waivers. Virginia submitted its initial application in February and now has until today to respond to the Education Department’s critique.
