Friday Report Round-Up
With so many great education reports coming out each week, it can be easy to miss one. To help our readers out, we will be posting a round-up of education focused reports, polls, and papers right here every Friday afternoon. Do you have any suggestions for what to include? Here is this week’s report round-up:
- The 2010 Education Next-PEPG Survey conducted for Harvard University’s Program on Education Policy and Governance and the journal Education Next. This survey found that teachers and the broader public are divided over issues such as merit pay for teachers, the federal Race to the Top program, and teacher tenure.
- The 42nd Annual Phi Delta Kappa/Gallup Poll of the Public's Attitudes Toward the Public Schools conducted by Phi Delta Kappa and Gallup. This poll, conducted annually since 1969, serves as an opportunity for parents, educators, and legislators to asses public opinion about public schools.
- The National Survey of American Attitudes on Substance Abuse XV: Teens and Parents conducted by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University. This survey found that twenty-seven percent of public school students ages 12 to 17 say that their school is both gang- and drug-infected (drugs are used, kept or sold on school grounds).
