First, Education Week revisits the Alliance’s recently released report Culture Shift: Teaching in a Learner-Centered Environment Powered By Digital Learning as well as a panel from the Content in Context conference from the Association of Educational Publishers and Association of American Publishers School Division. The commentary examines the important question “How Can Teachers Create a Learner Centered Environment?”

Next, The Washington Post tells the story of Jose Mangandi, a 14-year-old student from Prince George’s County, Maryland who participates in an innovative dual-enrollment program. “Three years from now, these students are projected to receive not only high school diplomas but also, if all goes well, associate’s degrees as graduates of the Academy of Health Sciences at Prince George’s Community College.” Talk about multi-tasking.

Lastly, from The Patriot-News in Pennsylvania comes news about a proposed bill that would incentivize businesses to fund scholarships for disadvantaged youths and schools. Up to $100 million in tax credits would be offered to businesses who contributed to an already existing statewide scholarship program whose funds as usually spoken for immediately after their release.
