Veronica Melvin
Executive Director
Veronica Melvin is the executive director of the Alliance for a Better Community (ABC), a coalition of leading organizations and civic leaders promoting equity for Latinos in education, health, economic development, and civic participation throughout the Los Angeles region. At ABC, Ms. Melvin leads the quality education campaign to reform high schools—by developing small learning environments, providing a rigorous education for all, and decreasing the dropout rate—so that all students graduate prepared to succeed in universities, work, and life. She also publishes the Latino Scorecard, a document created to build awareness and spur positive change for how Latinos fare in education, health, housing, economic development, and public safety. Prior to her tenure at ABC, Ms. Melvin was the community and government liaison for the San Diego Workforce Partnership. She earned her bachelor of arts from University of California–Berkeley and a masters of public policy from UCLA.
