Mike Gass, Eagle County Schools’ executive director of secondary education, has played many roles in education and leading educational reforms. His twenty years of experience ranges from teaching in elementary and middle school math and science to serving as executive director of secondary education. Mr. Gass was one of the early charter school principals in Colorado and developed policy at the state and national level for schools of choice. After moving to Gypsum Elementary, he became one of the first principals to help move a school’s staff to the Teacher Advancement Program model. Mr. Gass has worked to bring the model in an effective form to the high schools in the Eagle County School District, and he has worked with staff on refinement and implementation to grow the model in order to meet the needs of secondary teachers.
