Michael Wotorson
Michael Wotorson is responsible for supervising and implementing the goals of the Alliance’s civil rights initiative, including its collaboration with the Campaign for High School Equity (CHSE), an unprecedented partnership of nine of the nation’s major organizations representing communities of color.
Wotorson came to the Alliance from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), where he served as the National Education Director, supervising the NAACP’s education advocacy initiatives with a particular focus on racial and ethnic disparities in education equity. Previously, he ran his own education-oriented consulting firm, The Wotorson Group, where clients included the District of Columbia Public Schools, the Mid-Atlantic Equity Center, and the Embassy of the Republic of Liberia. Wotorson also served as a program director of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Education Fund. He earned both his BA and MA in Political Science from the University of Missouri–Columbia, and has done doctoral work at American University.
