Hans K. Meeder
Hans Meeder is president of the Meeder Consulting Group, LLC, a firm offering analysis of education and workforce policy, strategic visioning and implementation planning, and research on promising and proven practices. Mr. Meeder has an extensive and varied career in education and workforce policy and government leadership, with an emphasis on high school redesign, career and technical education, and workforce quality.
Through the Meeder Consulting Group, Mr. Meeder works closely with education leaders in several states, including Colorado, Georgia, Louisiana, Montana, Nevada, Virginia, and Wyoming, to help them shape their strategic direction for career and technical education and to strengthen its connection to high school redesign and workforce development. Mr. Meeder and his team also provide research and analysis for national and state-based organizations such as the Association for Career and Technical Education, the Ford Motor Company Fund, and the National Academy Foundation.
Just prior to forming the Meeder Consulting Group, Mr. Meeder served as deputy assistant secretary for education in the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Vocational and Adult Education. In this role, Mr. Meeder led the Department of Education’s High School Initiative, in which he guided development of policy papers and convened working high school summits that engaged teams from all fifty states and dozens of school districts. Mr. Meeder also directed the development of critical research on adolescent literacy and the Smaller Learning Communities Program, designed to help large high schools restructure and offer students more personalized and rigorous educational opportunities.
Mr. Meeder has also served as education policy and outreach director for the House Committee on Education and the Workforce and has worked in the congressional relations office of the U.S. Department of Education, as well as for several members of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Mr. Meeder lives in Columbia, Maryland with his wife and children. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park and holds an MBA from the University of Maryland University College.
