Vice President, Youth Transitions Cluster

Nancy HoffmanNancy Hoffman is vice president of the Youth Transitions Cluster at Jobs for the Future (JFF), a national nonprofit based in Boston. The cluster includes the Early College High School Initiative, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a network of over 170 schools that combine high school with two years of college. In addition, the cluster works with states on aligning and integrating high school and college and developing new pathways to degree completion, and with the Lumina Foundation on Making Opportunity Affordable, their initiative to increase productivity within U.S. higher education.

Dr. Hoffman’s career spans work in high schools and higher education. She came to JFF from Brown University, where she was senior lecturer in education and also served as director of the president’s office and secretary of the Brown Corporation. Previously, at Temple University, Dr. Hoffman served as vice provost for undergraduate studies, presidential fellow, and director of the honors program, with faculty appointments in English and women’s studies. She has also held posts at Harvard Graduate School of Education; the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education; Portland State University; and University of Massachusetts, Boston.

Dr. Hoffman holds a BA and PhD in comparative literature from the University of California, Berkeley. Recent publications include Women’s True Profession: Voices from the History of Teaching, Double the Numbers: Increasing Postsecondary Credentials for Underrepresented Youth (coedited with Richard Kazis and Joel Vargas), and Minding the Gap: Why Integrating High School with College Makes Sense and How to Do It (coedited with Joel Vargas, Andrea Venezia, and Marc Miller).
