Kevin Carey is the Policy Manager at Education Sector, a new education think tank. Prior to working at Education Sector, Carey was director of policy research at Education Trust, where he published numerous policy papers and analyses that have been cited in such media outlets as the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today.

His recent publications for the Trust include The Real Value of Teachers: Using New Information About Teacher Effectiveness to Close the Achievement Gap, as well as other analyses concerning education funding, higher education graduation rates, and the No Child Left Behind Act.

Prior to working for the Trust, he was a policy analyst for the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, the Assistant State Budget Director for Education for the state of Indiana, and an analyst for the Indiana Senate Finance Committee.

Carey has an M.P.A. from the Ohio State University and a B.A. from SUNY-Binghamton, and lives in Washington, DC.
