The Alliance for Excellent Education is a Washington, DC-based advocacy organization working to ensure that all at-risk middle and high school students meet challenging academic standards, graduate from high school and are prepared to succeed in college and become productive citizens. The organization aims to make sure that students have quality teachers, in-depth focused learning time, after school and summer school tutoring, counseling that encourages parental involvement, and school environments that encourage achievement.

  • Policy Intern
    Alliance for Excellent Education
    Washington, DC

    The intern will work closely with all members of the policy staff in Alliance efforts and will:

    - Assist staff by conducting legislative research, developing policy fact sheets, tracking federal legislation, and attending congressional hearings and briefings.
    - Provide staff with support in research and analysis of various topics, organizations, and key players in the field.
    - Assist in the development of case studies of promising practices in education.
    - Attend conferences, briefings, and forums as a representative of the Alliance.
    - Assist in the preparation of Alliance publications and events.
    - Keep staff abreast of trends in education reform.
    - Provide any other support to the president and staff as needed.


  • Policy and Research Associate
    Alliance for Excellent Education
    Washington, DC

    As part of the Alliance for Excellent Education's policy team, policy and research associates serve as the content leads on various policy issues and manage activities related to those issues (such as research, publications, advisory groups, and coordinating related events).


  • Senior Policy Associate
    Alliance for Excellent Education
    Washington, DC

    This position will help guide the organization’s efforts to make it possible for every child to graduate prepared for success in college, career, and life. As part of the policy team, the senior associate will serve as the content lead on select issues and manage projects that relate to secondary school reform and improvement. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: serving as content lead on select issues, conducting research; writing documents; managing medium- to large-scale, multi-year grants and deliverables; and coordinating public symposia.
