The Alliance for Excellent Education is a Washington, DC-based advocacy organization working to ensure that all at-risk middle and high school students meet challenging academic standards, graduate from high school and are prepared to succeed in college and become productive citizens. The organization aims to make sure that students have quality teachers, in-depth focused learning time, after school and summer school tutoring, counseling that encourages parental involvement, and school environments that encourage achievement.

  • Director of Federal Advocacy
    Alliance for Excellent Education
    Washington, DC

    The director of federal advocacy, under the supervision of the vice president for federal advocacy, will be responsible for managing the Alliance for Excellent Education’s legislative and advocacy efforts. S/he will work closely with the other members of the federal advocacy department and the policy department along with other Alliance staff to advance the Alliance’s policy agenda in Congress, with the U.S. Department of Education, the White House, and relevant education and civil rights organizations.


  • Legislative Associate
    Alliance for Excellent Education
    Washington, DC

    The legislative associate, under the supervision of the vice president for federal advocacy, will provide substantive policy and legislative support, and work closely with the federal advocacy department in developing and advancing in the Alliance for Excellent Education’s legislative and advocacy efforts. S/he will work closely with the other members of the federal advocacy department and the policy department along with other Alliance staff to advance the Alliance’s policy agenda in Congress, with the U.S. Department of Education, the White House, and relevant education and civil rights organizations.


  • Policy Intern
    Alliance for Excellent Education
    Washington, DC

    The intern will work closely with all members of the policy staff in Alliance efforts and will:

    - Assist staff by conducting legislative research, developing policy fact sheets, tracking federal legislation, and attending congressional hearings and briefings.
    - Provide staff with support in research and analysis of various topics, organizations, and key players in the field.
    - Assist in the development of case studies of promising practices in education.
    - Attend conferences, briefings, and forums as a representative of the Alliance.
    - Assist in the preparation of Alliance publications and events.
    - Keep staff abreast of trends in education reform.
    - Provide any other support to the president and staff as needed.
